What We Believe

The congregation of People’s United Methodist Church shares with other Christians the conviction that Scripture is the primary source and criterion for Christian doctrine. We are convinced that Jesus Christ is the living Word of God in our midst, in whom we trust in life and death. We believe that Scripture is primary and balanced with tradition, experience and reason. We believe in the Holy Spirit, through whom we acknowledge God’s gifts.


Our Mission

To reach out to people in the name of Jesus Christ. To relate people to God. To nurture and strengthen them in their journey of discipleship. To send them into the world to be the church. To invite and receive others in the name of Jesus Christ.


Our Vision

Glorifying God, transformed by the Holy Spirit, united in Christian community, we will respond to God’s call to proclaim Christ boldly to the world and to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

People's United Methodist Church is located in the heart of Joppa (Newburyport’s south

 end.) Come visit us to experience warm community, lively bible study discussions, family-

oriented worship, and participate in our many mission programs that show love to our

 neighbors in the greater Newburyport community and throughout the world.

HOW TO FIND US



 

FROM THE NORTH: Take I-95 South to Exit 57 / Newburyport. Take the Newburyport Exit and bear left. Go over the highway and continue on Storey Ave through 4 sets of lights. This will merge into High St. Stay on this road. You will pass a High School on a hill. Continue to a blinking light with a restaurant on the corner. Continue to a set of lights. Go straight. Keep on this road until the big curve and take that left -- Bromfield St. If you miss that one then the next street to take is Marlboro St. If you take Bromfield St - then look for Purchase St on the right. If you come down Marlboro it would be a left turn.

FROM THE SOUTH: Take I-95 North to Exit 57 and bear right onto Story Av. (continue as above)
